Mining Volumes

   Volumetric Analysis, Excalibar Minerals, Corpus Christi


GDM routinely performs volumetric scans for a variety of industries. Laser scanning provides an excellent way to measure products quickly and safely. Because all measuring is accomplished through the light beam, personnel can safely measure products that are hazardous, unstable, within confined spaces, or otherwise dangerous to occupy. As you can see, the data collection is sufficiently dense to assure accurate volumes are derived from all datasets.

Coolwater Ranch, Texas Hill Country.


GDM mapped the structures, hardscape, significant trees (>1ft in trunk diameter) and topography of more than 60 acres of this ranch. Data collection was accomplished with an HDS 3000 laser scanner, GPS, and RTK systems. The information collected was used for asset management purposes, landscape architecture and traditional architectural design and planning. As a result, the deliverables necessary included ArcGIS shape and database files, AutoCAD ADT 2000 & 2004, as well as registered point clouds in Cyclone IMP format. Additionally, fly-through animations were requested and provided for presentation purposes.
